Chevron Energy Solutions' Jim Davis Named Entrepreneur Of The Year for Social Responsibility by Northern California Ernst & Young

SAN FRANCISCO, June 21 -- Chevron Energy Solutions, a unit of ChevronTexaco (NYSE: CVX), today announced that its president, James C. Davis, was named 2004 Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) for Social Responsibility by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP in Northern California. Davis was recognized for his achievements in growing an idea for a comprehensive energy services company into a profitable enterprise that is benefiting the environment and taxpayers through energy conservation, alternative power technologies and efficiency improvements for public institutions.

Davis was selected from finalists representing 21 Northern California businesses by a panel of independent judges composed of local community and business leaders. He was honored at an awards banquet on June 18 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco.

Davis will be eligible for consideration for the Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) 2004 national program. Winners in several national categories, as well as the winner of the Overall National Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year(R), will be announced at the annual awards gala in Palm Springs, Calif., on Nov. 20, 2004.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) awards program was created and is produced by professional services firm Ernst & Young LLP. As the first award of its kind, it recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs who are building and leading dynamic and growing businesses. The program honors entrepreneurs through regional, national and global award programs in more than 100 cities and 35 countries.

Past recipients of the Entrepreneur Of The Year(R) award in Northern California include David Duffield of PeopleSoft, Larry Ellison of Oracle Corp., Charles Geschke and John Warnock of Adobe, Scott McNealy of Sun Microsystems, Gordon Moore and Bob Noyce of Intel, Pierre Omidyar of eBay, and Stratton Sclavos of VeriSign.
