SAN RAMON, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- ChevronTexaco Corp. (NYSE: CVX) today announced that Greg Matiuk, executive vice president, administrative and corporate services, has elected to retire after a distinguished 36-year career with the company.
"Throughout his career, Greg created significant value for our shareholders using effective change management tools and building high-performance teams -- all of which was accomplished with a keen focus on safety," said Chairman and CEO Dave O'Reilly. "In his most recent role, Greg was able to achieve significant merger-related synergies while maintaining a high level of corporate support for the company's global businesses. We wish Greg and his wife Rita a long and happy retirement," said O'Reilly.
Matiuk, a native of New York, received a degree in geological engineering from Michigan Technological University. He began his career with ChevronTexaco in 1967 as a production and reservoir engineer in Taft, Calif., and advanced through a number of leadership positions in production, corporate strategic planning, human resources, and corporate services.
He held a variety of positions of increasing importance in production, including manager of drilling and production in Australia, general manager for Chevron U.K. Ltd., in Aberdeen, Scotland, and vice president and general manager of the western business unit for Chevron U.S.A. Production Co., in Bakersfield, Calif.
Matiuk was elected a corporate officer and became vice president of strategic planning and quality in October 1996 and he was appointed vice president, human resources and quality in 1998. He assumed his current position in 2001.
Matiuk has represented the company with numerous organizations throughout his career. He has held board positions with the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME), United Way, the Bakersfield Symphony, Boy Scouts of America, and INROADS. SOURCE ChevronTexaco Corporation
