SAN RAMON, Calif., Mar 12, 2003 -- Rhonda I. Zygocki has been named vice president of health, environment and safety (HES), effective April 1, the company announced today. Zygocki currently serves as managing director of ChevronTexaco Australia Pty Ltd. located in Perth, Australia.
In her new position, Zygocki will be responsible for the company's HES strategic planning and issues management, compliance and auditing, and emergency response. She will also play a key role in implementing the company's operational excellence and organizational capability initiatives, which are important elements of ChevronTexaco's business strategy.
In making the announcement, Dave O'Reilly, ChevronTexaco chairman and chief executive officer said, "Protecting the health and safety of our employees and the environment in the areas in which we operate is a key component of the ChevronTexaco Way. As vice president of HES, Rhonda brings with her a proven track record, a deep understanding of the importance of our safety and environmental programs, and extensive operations and corporate experience."
A native of St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, she joined Chevron Canada Resources (CCR) in 1980 as a petroleum engineer, working primarily in the company's Western Canada operations. After serving in various positions of increasing responsibility, she was named CCR general manager, strategic business services in August 1993.
In December 1994, Zygocki was appointed profit center manager for Chevron U.S.A. Production Co., in Houston, and in March 1997, returned to Canada as chief financial officer of CCR.
Zygocki moved to the company's headquarters in 1999 when she was named manager of strategic planning for Chevron Corp., responsible for managing the company's planning process. In 2000, Zygocki became advisor to the chairman of the board for Chevron Corp. and subsequently was responsible for overseeing the merger integration planning office through mid-2001.
Zygocki graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. In her new role, she will be a board member of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers, the International Petroleum Industry Environmental Conservation Association and Engineers without Borders.
