Noble Energy Acquisition Announcement
Hello Everyone …
I hope you and your families continue to stay safe and healthy.
By now you’ve probably seen the news that Chevron has entered into an agreement to acquire Noble Energy.
This is an attractive opportunity that aligns with our commitment to win in any environment.
There are two main things I’d like you to know about this deal:
First, Noble’s high-quality assets provide Chevron with low-cost proved-reserves … and attractive undeveloped resources that will enhance an already advantaged Upstream portfolio.
In the U.S., Noble enhances our leading unconventional position with de-risked acreage in Colorado and over 92,000 largely contiguous and adjacent acres in the Permian Basin in Texas.
Noble also brings a large-scale, cash-generating natural gas position in offshore Israel, strengthening our position in the Eastern Mediterranean where we hold a number of promising exploration blocks.
Second, this transaction is aligned with our priorities and our ongoing transformation activities.
The actions we’ve taken to high-grade our portfolio … and evolve workflows, support structures and operating models … will allow us to better integrate these high-quality assets
As in the past, we’re in the process of forming a team with people from both companies who will collaborate closely to bring our two companies together .
[pause]
This has been an extraordinary year … with a global pandemic, market volatility, social unrest, and the changes brought by our transformation activities.
Despite all of this…our people continue to work safely in these extraordinary times…for which I am thankful and extremely proud.
The acquisition of Noble is an exciting opportunity that will benefit Chevron for years to come.
In the meantime, we’re still competitors, so any interaction with Noble should bear that in mind as we continue to operate as two separate companies until closing.
I know you’ll have questions…and you can expect regular communications over the next few months.
I encourage you to read my letter, the FAQs that are already posted and other information that will follow.
Again… thank you for all the contributions you make to our company… and all you do to enable human progress.
